Failure & downsides are a crucial and inevitable part of our long-term success! So I encourage you to embrace failure as part of the growthπŸ“ˆ

Awareness of downsides is the only way that eventually leads to the possibility of positive change.πŸ§˜β€β™€οΈπŸ’ͺ

Failures and downsides are an important part of successful growth. So we better embrace the dark times and deal with them instead of just denying them.

I’ve written some words on the current downsides for me to avoid survivorship bias.

Restraint to Fail – Fear to lock myself inπŸ”πŸ˜±

I feel a super strong restraint to really set up the kind of business system which I am currently developing. I know this feeling from other projects before – every time they start to feel too big.

When I start projects which require my long-term dedication for several months or even years that’s where this restraint always comes in. Feels like I don’t want to dedicate my lifetime to a certain project – especially if I don’t know how it’s going to end up.

When I think about it, it just feels like locking myself into something which I may eventually not want to do in the long run. This keeps me from starting bigger, more valuable long-term projects. The problem is that I simply don’t know if something will eventually work out or not, if I don’t try.

If I don’t start, I lose from the start. The only way to have the chance of winning is by starting.

I need to overcome this restraint.

Overcome Fear of locking Myself in

I have a few potential solutions to the fear of locking myself in (and for the probably underlying fear of failure):

  1. start with limited time frame
  2. reminding awareness: I can always exitπŸ§˜β€β™€οΈ

Start with a limited Time Frame

I may start with a limited, but reasonable, pre-defined time frame. This may help me to get started and not get overwhelmed.

That’s basically what I’ve done with the #3Kin2 challenge. But on today’s day 9, I already feel super overwhelmed by the long-term plans and ideas which I immediately started to develop during since the beginning of the challenge.

Theoretically it’s a good thing to think in terms of long-term, automatable systems. But practically it can become super overwhelming super fast. So that it eventually keeps me from actually taking action.

However another advantage of starting with a limited time frame is that I basically force myself to reflect if what I just started is actually worth it for the longer term.

Thus I eventually don’t just start, but even finish projects (which is another positive ability). I learn to terminate clearly to focus on the next thing.

Reminding Awareness: I can always exitπŸ§˜β€β™€οΈ

Every time I achieve awareness of my fear of locking myself into a business, I will remind my of the fact that I can always quit a business if it doesn’t fulfill my expectations.

If I actually don’t believe that I can exit any time, I’ll try to act as if.πŸ˜…

According to Amy Cuddy’s TED Talk, acting as if can be a great way to actually become a certain type of person. And I am sure that this also works for (limiting) beliefs.

Probably that’s the very basis of positive mindset and empowering affirmations.

It’s certainly an important one for me, because of the fear to lock myself into something and the fear of being forced to work in a business which I actually want to avoid by all means (which is probably another limiting fear) – just like in an employment.😱

Once I’ve built a successful business I could even exit profitably.πŸ€—

Tired Exhaustion: Embrace Failures and Downsides

For several weeks I’ve had a super hard time to get motivated and get up in the morning.

Some of it is certainly due to the nascent winter (hence fewer sunlight hours). On the other hand I haven’t been running on a regular basis or done extensive workouts for some time (which is something which usually gives me energy).

And lastly I’ve skipped my Sunday off nature walks for quite some time. So I’ve practically tried to work 7 days a week for the past 2-3 weeks.

This results in many unplanned and unsatisfying breaks, which I take unintentionally – just to escape the hard work.

Achieve Awareness by Embracing Failures

I hope that I gained and manifested a little more awareness for myself about the above described topics

I got this! You got this too.
